Large 1915 pitching action photograph of rookie Babe Ruth in uniform with the Boston Red Sox and working out at the ballpark. Perhaps his greatest image ever taken from a purely aesthetic perspective, the image is large and horizontal, capturing the slim and athletic frame of the rookie like none we have ever seen before. The clarity and contrast of the photograph are second to none, with paint and some paper loss around the image from editorial use as a newspaper being the only major flaws to detract from the overall appearance. Some wear at the edges, largely reserved to the upper left, and some tape used to reinforce the photograph also knocking down the technical grade. While it is impossible to date the image with any accuracy, we feel this is a 1930's to perhaps early 1940's example, clearly dating to Ruth's lifetime, and from the archives of Underwood and Underwood. Possibly a unique survivor, this is being offered here for the first time ever and is a wonderful alternative to a $150,000 original!
