The 1927 Yankees were the greatest team of all time, and while the hitters get most of the credit, somebody had to get the opposing team out from time to time. As such, the pitching staff on that club has become wildly underrated. Here we see the five men given the task of following up the "Murderers Row" season of 1927 with an encore performance in 1928. They did not disappoint as the bombers repeated as World Champions! Led by George Pipgras and Wilcy Moore, the squad also included A.S. Campbell, Joe Marty and Floyd Van Pelt. A rare photograph from St. Petersburg taken only five months after the famed 1927 Yankees put the icing on the cake!
