1902 Composite photograph of the champion Philadelphia Athletics and taken during the last season before the advent of the World Series. The photo captures young stars Eddie Plank and Rube Waddell among others. The photo is a double weight beauty with silvering at the edges with significant age to it. We feel this was done around 1910-11 as a slight retrospective on the team when they were dominant, but less than ten years after the original composite was released. This photo is impossible to classify using any clear definition, but it is a composite photograph that was then photographed again with two early tickets to the Athletics laid over the top. PSA should give this a Type 1 because of the nature of the item, but it fits as a Vintage 1 in our classification because the image is what the photographer intended and is not a "photo of a photo" but a unique piece of art taken about 1910 using older Athletics souvenirs as the subject matter. Condition and quality are both outstanding and this is the only example of this photograph we have ever seen!
Designation: Vintage 1
