Large 1909 double weight photograph of superstar catcher Lou Criger in his first year with the St. Louis Browns. Taken in full uniform and with his catchers mask as well, this is a work of photographic art that is likely unique, offered here for the first time ever fresh out of a newspaper archive. Stamped on the back by the Central Press with a 1912 date (this is when they started stamping all their old images) but with a large handwritten note on the back that clearly indicates this is a 1909 photograph. Photo has a crease and some pinholes as well as some editorial tracing but the image is one of the best we have ever handled aesthetically!
