1947 Important and artistic boxing photograph with tragic overtones that shows Sugar Ray Robinson as he hovers over his challenger Jimmy Doyle after sending him to the mat. Doyle would die from this blow a few hours later, making this one of the most tragic boxing images we have ever handled. Stamped on the back by the Cleveland News with the date and in nice shape overall with some light handling wear from editorial use. A piece of boxing history that is possibly unique, offered here for the first time ever.
