1923 Saw lots of firsts for the New York Yankees and this is one of them. The first ever World Series game at the brand new Yankee Stadium! The image captures a packed house, ready for action as the Yankees were set to take on the Giants, again, for baseball supremacy. In the 1921 and 1922 World Series, all the games were played at the Polo grounds, but this year the Yankees had the home field advantage and they rode the wave all the way to their first title in franchise history. It would have been amazing to be at this game, the buzz is the air is almost detectible in this image alone! Issued by Underwood and Underwood and stamped on the back with a full paper caption as well. This is the first example of this image we have ever seen and it presents well, offered here for the first time fresh out of a newspaper archive.
