One of the most iconic photographs ever taken of Babe Ruth is this image done in 1921 in which he was presented with a huge crown befitting of a king as he was named the "King of Swat." In over twenty years of searching through archives and private collections, this is the ONLY vintage 1921 example of this photograph we have ever seen in any form! Issued by Underwood and Underwood, the photo has a full paper caption on the back which goes into great detail about how the photo was taken on the very day the photo was released. This is the actual embossed 'File Copy" stamp from the archives of Underwood and Underwood and it is being offered here for the first time ever. We feel this is a "type 1" photo but without another known copy in the world, there is a possibility this was done off a duplicate negative. The photo retains exceptional clarity and quality with, as mentioned earlier, this being the only example we have ever seen in the hobby! One of the most historically important baseball images in the world, making it's exciting debut here! NOTE: This photo has been evaluated by PSA and has been authenticated as a TYPE 1. This is the only known example of this photograph that has been certified at this level and it is one of the most coveted of all Ruth images. An exciting new discovery that has now been certified by PSA!
