You could make an argument that between 1910-1911, the best pitcher in baseball was Jack Coombs. He went 31-9 and 21-12 for the Athletics and became a star. The offered image captures Coombs in uniform with the Brooklyn Dodgers after being traded. Taken by Charles Conlon and stamped on the back, this is one of his earliest images with the white border which became Conlon's style of choice in the years just before WWI.
