Alfred Bull was one of the best college football players in America when he posed for this photograph in uniform. He was the star of the University of Pennsylvania and All-American for his efforts. While most men of his stature went into business and left the game, Bull instead became one of the greatest early pioneers of professional football. In 1898 He became the coach and quarterback of the famous Latrobe professional team that was the first pro football league in America. Images of Bull are extremely rare and highly sought after for his contributions to the early professional game and this is the only image of him we have ever seen! An important new discovery that is being offered here for the first time ever with some editorial marks present from being used in a newspaper archive, but these can easily be cleaned off.
