Stunning aerial photograph from high above the attack on Normandy Beach on June 6, 1944 and showing a rare look at D-Day from above the fighting. The image paper caption notes this as "The Attack Opened Here" and shows the beach clear from before the landing craft started arriving! Stamped on the back by a foreign news service and in great shape with a vintage paper caption as well, this is one we have never seen before and it is a rare piece of WWII history from it's greatest battle! This is the only image from June 6, 1944 that shows the aerial assault without a single landing craft visible on the beach yet!
