Rare 1922 portrait photograph of early women's golf superstar Alexa Sterling as it was announced she was the favorite for the women's golf title... again. Sterling was a major draw and was to women's golf at the time what Bobby Jones was to men's golf (the two even toured together throughout World War I). This is only the second example of this image we have ever seen and one of the only portrait photographs of the shy southern belle we have ever handled. Issued by Wide World Photos and stamped on the back with a nice detailed paper caption, this is fresh out of a New York archive and offered here for the first time ever.
