1927 Early, large photograph of young boxer Jack Sharkey. He was all set to meet Jack Dempsey and get a shot at Gene Tunney for the title when this photo was taken. Sharkey was all smiles, but the bout would not go well. Dempsey swung low over and over again prompting Sharkey to turn and complain to the referee and when turning his head, Dempsey knocked him out! He would eventually get another shot at the title in 1931 and would win, holding onto it until 1933. A rare early image in great shape and stamped on the back by the photographer Bert Roberts.
