In one of the most interesting of all footnotes in baseball history is the relationship between Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola. The boys grew up together, went to school together, and played the same position. When the duo hit the major leagues in 1946-47, it was the talk of baseball that these two childhood friends were the hottest young catchers in baseball. This fact was not lost on photographer William C. Greene who took the opportunity to snap this incredible action photo of Berra being tagged out by his buddy, and noting their relationship on the back caption. One of the only images of the pair together, this was taken during spring training in 1947 from the genesis of their careers! An incredible piece of baseball history from the archives of Baseball Magazine!
