Bill McKechnie was not much of a player, but became one of the first managers ever selected into the baseball Hall of Fame. He bounced around from 1907-1920, never really playing much and as such, never really photographed much. In all the years we have been specializing in vintage photography, we have handled maybe 4-5 playing days photographs of McKechnie in any form. The offered 1916 image of McKechnie in uniform with the Giants is the first we have ever seen off the lens of the famous photographer Charles Conlon. An exciting new discovery in great shape, this is a nearly perfect specimen that ranks among the most important Conlon images we have ever offered!
