Beautiful field level action photograph from a 1908 game between the New York Highlanders (Yankees) and the Philadelphia Athletics and taken from the iconic Hilltop Park in New York. One of the greatest early ballparks with a cult-like mystique to it, this is one of the best images of the famous structure we have handled. An overflow crowd has spilled onto the outfield grass and the ornate advertising provides the perfect backdrop for this magnificent photograph. Handwritten notes on the back were added later by the original photographer and it retains some scrapbook evidence (extra paper only and no damage to the reverse of the image) which adds a nice touch. A silver gelatin masterpiece of photography, this is one of the top images of the fabled ballpark we have ever handled in any form! Completely original to 1908.
