The 1910 photograph of Ty Cobb sliding into third base by Charles Conlon is the most important sports photograph ever taken and it ushered in a new era of sports action photography. We discovered the only known original "Type 1" and sold it in 2015, and this photo recently changed hands for $250,000! While the example here is not that, it is one of the next best options for a collector on a budget. Issued around the 1960's and off a duplicate negative (because the original glass plate was cracked) this one is clean and clear. From the archives of the Sporting News, this is an actual original example from 50+ years ago and from the archives of the company that owned the negative. This will get a "Type 4" designation from PSA as c. 1960's and is a fine alternative to a half million dollar example!
