Herb Pennock got around but seemed everywhere he went the teams won… maybe he had something to do with that. He started out his career as a young flamethrower for Connie Mack and his dynasty with the Philadelphia Athletics. He was then dealt to Boston where he was part of some really great Red Sox teams from 1915-1922. He is pictured here around 1919 in Red Sox uniform delivering a pitcher. In 1923 he went to the rival New York Yankees where he was again part of championship teams. This particular example is clear and exceptionally clean dating to c. 1920. Stamped on the back by famous St. Louis photographer George Dorrill, he was most active in the early 1940's which is when this photo was likely made off a negative he had on file. One of the best early images of Pennock that exists and in great shape.
