1927 Large and bold portrait photograph of Ty Cobb sporting a uniform other than the Detroit Tigers for the first time ever as he switched over to the Athletics. A clear and clean portrait that seems to show that Cobb's arrogance was still present despite losing a step or two from age, the image is one of his better portraits of Cobb from the era we have ever handled. Photo has some pinholes mostly at the corners from publication and a small rip on the lower right that was repaired years ago with tape. Stamped on the back from the art department of the Christian Science Monitor and offered here for the first time ever, they used to put small paper labels on the front of their images and this one is no different. By 1927 the world had sort of moved on past Cobb and as a result, images of him from his two years in Philadelphia, at least quality images, are tough!
