Jim Brown was already the best player in all of football when he left Syracuse before the start of the 1957 NFL season, but he has some room in his trophy case after being denied the Heisman due to his skin color. When he was awarded the rookie of the year trophy after his first season in professional football, it surprised nobody. Here Brown smiles with his trophy and poses for photographers a few days after the calendar turned to 1958. This is the only example of this photograph we have seen. Aside from a couple of small creases on the bottom border it presents nearly perfect with exceptional tones and clarity.
