Poignant 1947 photograph from spring training in Cuba showing Jackie Robinson looking through the media guide and failing to find his name on the Dodgers roster and feeling dejected over the issue. He was forced as a result to wear his Montreal jersey and again feel like he was boing kept out of the "white only" club. The dejection would be short lived however as Jackie would make the club a few weeks later and about a month and a half after this image was taken, he would change the world and appear with the Dodgers on opening day! All things considered, this is one of the most important images of Robinson we have ever offered, and one of his most important ever taken. it is impossible to think there was ever a time when Jackie was so down, feeling like he failed as his name was left off the Dodgers roster! The photo has crystal clarity and is off the original negative for sure, stamped on the back by Acme and with a paper caption that is separated but present and does a great job describing the scene. Some paper loss at the top is hard to notice and does not detract much from the quality of the photo as it blends with the white border.
