In 1921 Bobby Jones was known throughout America as having all the potential but had to win much of anything. He traveled to Maryland to participate in the US Open and hoped this would eb the year he would finally notch a major victory. It would not happen for a few more years, but this photograph captures a young 19 year old looking nervous about his future. Shown swinging an iron and with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, this is an important image from Underwood an Underwood and stamped on the back with a dated paper caption that even mentions the photo was taken "today". We have uncovered some of the most important early images of Bobby Jones known in the hobby and this one ranks up there among the best ever.
