1911 Silver gelatin photograph of baseball legend Ty Cobb receiving his Chalmers automobile as the MVP and batting champion of the American League. He was a controversial player and his award of a Chalmers car in 1911 was no less controversial, but he won two of these (1910 and 1911). Apparently he was awarded the car at Shibe park during the World Series and there are members of the Athletics present and congratulating him for the award as well. A perfect 10/10 from the archives of Underwood and Underwood and with a handwritten note on the back with the negative number the photo corresponded too. One of the greatest Cobb images we have ever had the pleasure of offering and it makes its debut here today!
