Hollis Thurston was a bit of a weird anomaly in baseball. He was average at best, went to the PCL where he learned to throw a screwball as a member of the San Francisco Seals (pictured here) then went back to the majors and was pretty average once again. I guess when this photo was issued, they were hoping some of those 22 wins in the PCL would translate to the big leagues because they sounded pretty excited! Issued by the International News and the image captures the pitcher in PCL uniform.
