Incredible photograph from October 20, 1920 of Hall of Famer Miller Huggins. Issued by George Grantham Bain and with an incredible caption on the back "Slated to be Dropped by Yankees". At the time Huggins was not respected by the players and T.L. Huston of the Yankees was siding with the players and very critical of Huggins down the stretch in 1920. They gave him a last chance and offered him a one-year contract for 1921. Its a good thing they didn't fire the young Manager as he would lead the Yankees through one of the greatest decades in Baseball history including the 1927 team which was the best team ever assembled. Beautiful condition (10/10!) and with a bold Bain stamp on the reverse. This photo sold for $306 in our Feb Premier Auction!
