1912 Cabinet photograph of young Boston Red Sox phenom Smoky Joe Wood in uniform. Stamped on the back by rock star photographer Charles Conlon, this is one of only a handful of Conlon cabinet images we have ever seen with this being perhaps the finest example known. It is unsure why Conlon produced a few of his images on cabinet stock, but some speculation has been as presentation pieces or perhaps for the players themselves, but as a stock photo supplier for newspapers and guides, this is a medium of production he rarely used. A perfect 10/10, this important image is subject to an extremely modest reserve at what we feel is about one fourth the market value for such a rarity.
