One of the most famous images ever taken on a baseball diamond, this touching 1939 photo captures Babe Ruth hugging his teammate Lou Gehrig on the day Gehrig was honored at Yankee Stadium. A rare piece of baseball history that is being offered here fresh from the estate of a former player, this is a c. 1950 example that presents in perfect condition, we are talking about a photo issued only about ten years after it was taken and from the original negative which is of the utmost importance. Outside the world of baseball photography, a 1939 photo from the 1950's or from 1941 does not really matter much and this one is pre-certified by PSA as a Type 2 from c. 1950 which solidifies it is off the original negative! Comes with a letter of provenance as well from Tony Cuccinello.
