Stunning 1911 on-field photograph of the greatest hero in American sports, baseball star Christy Mathewson. Taken presumably at the World Series where the Giants wore their popular black uniforms for the only time, this captures the iconic figure from head to toe and wearing his warm-up jacket as well. Stamped on the back by George Grantham Bain (visible underneath later stickers) and in spectacular condition grading a perfect 10/10! One of his finest images we have ever handled! The black mark is a scratch in the original negative and not a flaw in the photo as it grades perfect!
