Wilbur Wright was half of the greatest team of mechanical engineers of the 20th century. "The Wright brothers" were the stuff of legend, starting from a humble home and vaulting themselves to the pinnacle of fame and notoriety through the invention of manned flight, their story is the epitome of the American Dream. Images of Wilbur Wright are extremely difficult to find as press photography was still somewhat in its infancy when he died in 1912. The offered image is a rare survivor as the it was taken by the Gilliams Press Syndicate (one of the first ever news photo agencies) in 1909 a few years before Wilbur would pass away. One of the only original portraits of Wilbur Wright from his lifetime that we have ever seen!
