We know Pee Wee Reese today as the stalwart Captain of the Brooklyn Dodgers throughout the 1940's and 1950's but during Spring Training 1940, he was a youngster just trying to make the team. He would break camp with the Dodgers and see action in 84 games during the season. The offered portrait photo issued by Acme is the "Quintessential Reese" and is the photo of choice for Baseballreference.com and numerous books and publications. This however, is the only original we have offered and this image rarely, if ever, comes up for sale! Date stamped from February 1940, a full two Months before he would see an at-bat in the Major Leagues. Photo is in nice shape overall with a corner crease on the upper left and a few tiny pinholes.
