Before he stepped foot on the diamond for the Pittsburgh Pirates, before he hit the most dramatic home run in World Series history, and before he ever appeared on a baseball card, Bill Mazeroski was a young man fresh out of high school who was trying to hone his skills with the Aguilas Cibaenas team of the Dominican Republic. The offered silver gelatin photograph captures the 19 year old from his first season (1955-56) in the league and in uniform taking batting practice for the Aguilas Cibaenas team. Cool note on the back talks about his exploits from the previous day "Violo la cerca dos veces ayer" which roughly translated says "Raped the fence twice yesterday!" Quality is outstanding and this is being offered publicly here for the first time ever with the only flaw being a pinhole on the upper right corner.
