Oh the pain that Casey Stengel had to endure as the New York Mets made their debut in 1962 as part of the National League. TO say they were bad was an injustice to other bad teams… they were awful. Stengel was the perfect man for the job however, as he seemed to understand the task and embraced their ineptitude.
