Taken about three years before he ever appeared on a Topps baseball card, this image captures a young Don Zimmer in uniform with the Cienfuegos team of Cuba as he sits on the dugout steps and dreams of one day making it to the big leagues. He probably would have never believed he would spend over fifty years in the game and become one of its most beloved figures! This is quite simply the earliest and best image of Zimmer we have ever seen and it bears the stamp from a Havana photographer on the back.
