The 1949 World Series did not start or end the way the Dodgers had hoped. Don Newcombe pitched a gem for the Bums in the first game of the series but his one mistake (a home run to Tommy Heinrich) was all the Yankees needed as they walked away with a 1-0 victory. The offered photograph shows Burt Shotten, Roy Campanella and the Dodgers heading back to the locker room after the defeat, left to lick their wounds and regroup for the next game. An exciting new discovery being offered here for the first time ever, this is a fine example that is almost certainly unique.
