One of the most important images we have offered, this image is much more than meets the eye. At first glance, we see Jackie Robinson and Dan Bankhead from the historic 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers Season; significant in its own right. Upon further inspection you find that this image shows Dan Bankhead entering the game and becoming the first ever Black Pitcher in Major League Baseball and Jackie Robinson clapping along side him in recognition of the milestone. Wire photo is dated from the milestone day August 26, 1947. Condition is not bad with a few creases and some editorial tracing of the images. A rare look at history courtesy of the Associated Press!
