Pete Reiser is one of the great "what if" stories in baseball. A hard nosed hustler who only knew one way to play the game, reckless! He crashed into walls, crowded the plate, and broke up double plays with little regard for human life. The result was one of the greatest talents in the history of the game cut short by injury after injury. The offered image from the beginning of his career shows one of the earliest examples of Reiser's hard nosed play, being carried off the field in Brooklyn against the Philadelphia Phillies after being hit by a pitch in the head! A unique new discovery that is being offered here for the first time ever, it presents well despite some handling wear and a border chip on the far left.
