Paul Costello and Charley MacIlvaine were the Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig of rowing. Costello was a triple gold medal winner in 1920, 1924 and 1928 (pictured here). MacIlvaine was not too bad either winning golf in 1928. A beautiful and important image that is the only example of this photograph we have ever seen. Issued through Underwood and Underwood but originally distributed by an Amsterdam news agency.
