Large March 19, 1945 photograph of the first wave of American Marines battling for every inch of sand on Iwo Jima as they slowly advance toward Mt. Suribachi and victory. While this example is a slightly later restrike without a ton of information, we have sold another example of this photo that was stamped on the back by the Marines and with the photographer credit of Dreyfuss. This is a famous image in great shape that dates to the late 1950's or early 1960's (about 15-20 years after the original was taken) and stamped on the back by the United Press.
