1944 Large photograph of American soldiers arriving on the second day of the D-Day invasion and dated June 7, 1944 on the back. A powerful image that captures both the look of relief on the faces of these soldiers that they survived the landing, but also tension at what lay ahead for them in the French countryside. Stamped on the back with the important purple text from the government and in nice shape overall with note to some creasing at the corners from news-room handling. This is an important photograph and this represents just the second example we have ever handled.
