While wrestling had already taken on a bit of flare by the time "Gorgeous George" hit the scene, he took the costume and make-up element to new heights and the sport would never be the same. An underrated figure today, this image shows the pioneer athlete as he was bloodied and bruised in his match with Lou Thesz. From Acme and with a full paper caption on the back, this is an incredible piece of early wrestling history. The photo has some wear at the edges but overall it presents pretty well.
