Rare and important 1926 photograph of Moritz Haeusler of the Hakoah-Vienna soccer team which was an all-Jewish assemblage that ranked among the best teams in the world at the time. He was making his debut in America with his squad as the game of soccer was just starting to take hold here with the influx of immigrants at the end of the industrial revolution. An important image as Haeusler was one of the best players in the world and a member of the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, but also a pioneer for American soccer which is exploding in popularity nearly a hundred years after this photo was taken. This is the only photo of Haeusler we have ever seen, issued by Fotograms and with a full paper caption on the back.
