Extremely early 1974 photograph of Jackson State running back Walter Payton as he posed with his trophy for winning the Offensive Player of the Year Award at the second annual Black College All American banquet. Payton is an iconic player today, but he was widely unknown at the all-black Jackson State in 1974, making any images of him before he joined the Bears extremely rare. This will get a Type 1 from PSA and it represents the only image of Payton from before his NFL tenure that we have ever handled!
