1933 Sweeping aerial action photograph of Babe Ruth stepping to the plate in the first ever All-Star game in Chicago. Taken from the left field bleachers, the photo shows the packed house at Comiskey Park with reporters and photographers everywhere to take in the spectacle. From the Chicago bureau of Acme and stamped on the back, the photo carries two important identifications by the newspaper archive. The first is "Babe Ruth" along with the file number which referred to the folder at NEA the photo would be filed in. The second is "Crowd at Chicago Century of Progress All Star Game." Dated on the back as well from NEA as being filed on July 9, 1933 which was just a few days after the event. There is absolutely no doubt the image captures the first All Star Game in Chicago. As to the identification of Babe Ruth, this is completely vintage and the batter is a large left handed hitter that certainly presents the figure of Ruth. There is a rip on the upper left corner that has been repaired with tape on the back, but otherwise the photo presents really well. This is the only example of this photograph we have ever seen and it is being offered here for the first time ever!
