1945 Official military photograph of the completely desolate city of Schweinfurt after it was bombed for the last time and finally liberated near the end of WWII (April 11, 1945). A lone tank surveys the landscape that appears as though it was hit with an atomic bomb. It is a beautiful place today but it is hard to imagine anyone could rebuild after such destruction. A powerful and artistic work of WWII art that is being offered here for the first time ever and it has the faint government purple text on the back!
