The battle of Hurtgen Forest is largely forgotten today but at the time it was one of the most important in all of WWII. It was the longest battle ever on German soil during WWII and also the longest single battle in United States history. The image shows American troops digging in as the cold was biting all around them. Dated right in the middle of the campaign, this is from Acme and identified on the back as the work of photographer Andrew Lopez. A fantastic image from this rare battle that we have never seen before.
