On August 2, 1923, President Warren G. Harding died unexpectedly of a heart attack. The Vice President was Calvin Coolidge who was visiting family in Vermont at the time at a home with neither a telephone nor electricity. By the time word got to Coolidge, reporters had already assembled at his home and he was given the oath of office by his father via a Kerosine lamp! He returned to Washington as soon as he could and assembled his team with this being one of the first photographs ever taken of the commander in chief and his cabinet. Taken on the White House lawn, the photo also captures a bevy of photographers trying to get the perfect shot as well. A cool "behind the scenes" style image in nice shape and this is the only example we have ever seen! Stamped on the back by the National Photo company and with a paper caption as well.
