Lot Description  

1961 Vintage and extremely early photograph of NASA engineer Richard Slater as he works on the American answer to Sputnik. A bold image in great shape, this is dated on the back and presents beautifully. This is the only example of this photograph we have ever seen and it literally represents the birth of the American satellite industry as the image pictures a foil prototype.
