Large c. 1867 portrait cabinet photograph of an early Cricket star in America named Spencer Meade. At the time this photo was taken, he was a big deal, but his career would soon be overshadowed by the game of baseball taking hold. Meade was a Civil War veteran and the son of George Meade, Union General of note. An incredible early photograph in uniform and from a Philadelphia photographer, this is an important piece of American sports history that is being offered here for the first time ever out of the archives of Harpers!
