1916 Vintage photograph of Eddie Rickenbacker, the popular race car driver, posed at the Indianapolis 500 behind the wheel of his car. He would soon trade his automobile engine for that of a fighter plane during WWI and become the "Ace of Aces" catapulting him to superstar status. The photo appears to be original to 1916 and was re-used and stamped in 1919 (just three years later) as he was set to referee the Indianapolis 500 after his return from WWI. A powerful image from one of the most underrated figures of his era and it presents pretty well with note to a crease and pinholes from editorial use.
