Part of the allure surrounding Bobby Jones, aside from his dominance on the golf course, was his unwavering dedication to being a true sportsman and gentleman. In this 1926 photograph, from still relatively early in Jones career, he congratulates the man who defeated him at the British Amateur, Andrew Jamieson. A powerful image that shows Jones, who had to be crushed inside at losing, putting on a brave face and congratulating the young challenger on a match well played. A beautiful and clear work of golf history, this is from the archives of Underwood and Underwood and is being offered here for the first time ever. The photo has some chipping and minor damage to the corners, but it looks much better than the technical grade.
