Lot Description  

1949 Opening Day photograph of New York Yankees Hall of Famer Phil Rizzuto as he scores the first run of the season for the Bronx Bombers, which would be the first step toward another World Series. The photo presents well with some light creasing from age and news room handling but with exceptional clarity. The photo was issued by the International News and is stamped on the back with a full paper caption that lists the photographer as Hugh Broderick.
